Granite Baptist Church began in July 1958. Seven people gathered together to start an Independent Baptist church in Glen Burnie.
In their first four years they had five different pastors. Among them were Rev. William Keller (the founding pastor and Pastor Grammer's brother-in-law), and Rev. Milton Thatcher.
They met in several locations, including a storefront on Vernon Avenue, the community meeting hall at Hurundale Mall (America's first mall), the old Moose Hall on Crain Highway, and the Glen Burnie Improvement Association meeting hall.
The struggling little church bought the property at 7823 Oakwood Road in 1961. I am sure that very few present that day would have dreamed this little spot would make such an impact on Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County, and even the world!
Granite today is thriving under the leadership of Pastor Curtis King. It is a thrill to know the preaching of God's word will be presented in every service.
The Lord has blessed in so many ways. One huge blessing for which we are thankful is our pastoral staff. Each and every pastor has a heart for feeding the Granite flock while reaching out to the community in an effort to win every soul possible to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Sunday morning services now have an attendance that has quadrupled since 2002.
